The Airborne Soldier bronze statue

On 6 July 2019, after a parade of Airborne Forces veterans through the streets of Aldersot, the bronze sculpture ‘The Airborne Soldier’ was unveiled. The bronze, by sculptor, Amy Goodman, commemorates the association of Aldershot with the Airborne Forces who were based there for half a century before army reorganisation moved the most of the unit to Colchester.

The Airborne Soldier, standing on a piece of white granite sourced from The Falklands, is poised to leap from a plane over Mount Longdon, the scene of a key battle involving the Parachute Regiment during the Falklands War in 1982.
